A saxophone player playing clarinet or flute will probably not have the same technical abilities on those instruments as they would have on a saxophone. I think I like the descant better, so if I was to spluge on buying a wooden recorder, I would buy a descant. Later, flutes were made of metals such as tin, copper, or bronze. The popular recorder activity breaks, and the run up to exam periods do seem always to produce a crop of split instruments.

If you don't already own a Recorder in the key of C, you might want to take a look at our Gill Recorder. Best of all, every recorder used the same fingering, so rather than learn a new fingering system to play the other instruments (F or C), you only needed to transpose the music into your fingering.
